Bark Stop

It is natural for dogs to bark, whine and howl at times. They do this to communicate with us and express how they feel. Having a dog makes us feel secure as they can warn us about potential danger or protect us from harm. Having a dog can also be a source of pride and joy to us especially if they can learn tricks and can follow commands.  One command that we would surely want our dogs to follow is the ‘quiet’ command as it trains our dogs to stop their bad habit of nuisance barking. Excessive barking can really tick us off at times. It may also be a cause of dispute with our neighbors. So to avoid having problems like that, we have to make the irritating bark stop. 

There are a number of ways for us to do this. As I mentioned before, we can teach our dog the ‘quiet’ command. This will train them when to bark and when not to. This may be very difficult to achieve but with consistency and dedication, we can surely do it. We have to work on their bad habit as soon as we can. For the sooner we train our dogs, the sooner they will learn to curb their behavior. We must also understand that our dogs bark for a lot of reasons. They do not just bark just because they can. Sure it’s a dog’s natural instinct to bark, but they also have a list of reasons why they do it.

It’s very important o know the various reasons why our dogs bark as it will help us determine how to stop incessant barking. Firstly, our dogs bark to warn us if someone is at the door or if a stranger is approaching our house. The sound of this bark is usually loud and authoritative. This is to let the stranger know that his or her presence is sensed and that the house is being guarded. Secondly, dogs bark if they are anxious or lonely. This high-pitched and whining kind of bark is usually meant to soothe themselves. Young dogs and puppies also bark if they want to play or if they are excited. You can distinguish this bark as it sounds upbeat and somehow musical.

Our dogs also bark if they are seeking our attention or if they are bored. They will whine like a child to get our attention. They also bark to release excess energy and if we notice them barking that sounds like they are lonely, then we should give them an activity or a game to do. Sometimes, our dogs bark to respond to other dogs. If one of the dogs in the neighborhood starts to bark, the others tend to follow. Most of the time, this can get really annoying that’s why we have to find ways to put a stop to it.

There is a wide variety of dog barking control devices that is available in the market. The citronella spray collar emits an unpleasant yet safe scent whenever the dog starts barking incessantly. The tone correction unit releases a loud, distracting sound that is audible to the dog’s ears but not to humans. The stimulation collars will deliver a static electrical impulse once excessive barking is detected. Small dog bark collars are collars that are especially designed for small dogs like Poodle and Chihuahua. It is somewhat difficult to find a collar that will perfectly fit our dog, but we just have to persevere a little more since it is for our beloved pet.

Another way to make the bark stop is through a technology called ultrasonic bark control. This releases a loud and high-pitched ultrasonic tone as a response to the barks of the dogs. The tone is undetectable by humans, but it will distract the dogs and train them to stop barking. The convenience of this device is we can use it on more than one dog. It protects our desired area up to a maximum of 50 feet. The dogs will eventually associate the noise with their barks and therefore learn to stop their nuisance barking when they hear the annoying sound.
