Large Indoor Rabbit Cages
72Rabbits are ideal for house pets. You would notice that a rabbit that is kept indoors is happier than those who are kept in an outdoor rabbit hutch. For one, they are getting all the attention that they want from their owners. They are also protected from possible predators and the harmful elements of the weather. However, rabbits still need to have their own special place. It is important that you provide them with their indoor rabbit cages to make them feel secure.
choosing a rabbit cage
In choosing a rabbit cage for your pet, it is important that you consider not only the cage’s size but the size of your rabbit as well. By conducting a research on the breed of your rabbit, you will be able to estimate its growth rate. You should choose a cage that is at least four times bigger than your rabbit’s adult size. It is important that you give your rabbit enough space to hop about without being restricted. Choosing the right cage the first time around will help you save money and time because you need not buy a new one in case your rabbit outgrows the cage.
Do not choose a cage with metal wired floors because your rabbit’s nails may get stuck there and that will surely hurt them. It is best to get a cage with a solid base. It is slightly harder to clean than the metal wired one but it will be a more comfortable place for your rabbit. To help you with the mess, you can spread out a newspaper on the floor and place a litter box inside the cage. It would be easier if you could litter-train your rabbit. You should also choose a cage that has splash guards on the side as your rabbit may pee on the edges and make your floor dirty.
Another thing to consider is your rabbit’s passage. Your rabbit should be able to get in and out of its cage without getting harmed. A rabbit cage with top opening is always better. However, if you want to give your rabbit the liberty to roam around, you can choose one that has a large side door. This should ensure a safe and easy passage for your rabbit. A large door will also help you get and clean the litter box out without difficulty. Also, secure the edges of the opening door to make it safe for you and your rabbit. You do not want to get scratches when lifting your rabbit right?
There are a lot of alternative rabbit cages out in the market today. But most of them are not really suitable for a rabbit. Rabbits are free roamers by nature, they should be able to move around as they wish. If possible, it would be a good idea to get an outdoor rabbit hutch. However, if you don't have any outdoor possibilities, a large indoor cage might work just fine. Choosing a large cage would consume a big space in your home, but it will definitely provide your rabbit with the utmost security and comfort that they need.
One other advantage of having large indoor rabbit cages is you can add accessories and toys for your beloved pet. You can buy them a grass mat to make their floors more comfortable to walk on. And if you really have a large rabbit hutch, you can provide them ‘a hutch within a hutch’. There are small woven grass caves available in the market. These grass caves will provide your rabbit a comfortable place to take naps in. There’s also one rabbit accessory that they call the Snak Shak Log House. It’s made of edible alfalfa and honey which your pet can chew on. Chew sticks, dumbbells and ring toss toys are also fun toys for your rabbits.
Huge rabbit cages
There are huge rabbits, which need huge rabbit indoor cages. Luckily, there are huge indoor cages available that can fit any rabbit, no matter how big it gets. The only factor that limits the cage, is your house or indoor place. One of the nicest options might be to get a large outdoor rabbit hutch, and move it inside. These hutches are generally quite a bit bigger than normal cages, so they provide ample space for any rabbit, no matter the size.
