Kickboxing Gloves | The main gear for kickboxing
66Kickboxing is becoming a very popular sport these days. It is one of the top choices for both men and women who are looking for a more exciting exercise other than the typical gym workout. Just like any other sport, kickboxing requires your dedication and perseverance to master the movements and techniques. You need to allot a portion of your time and dedicate it to your kickboxing class to make sure that you get all the moves right. And in order to get the moves right, you need to have the right gear which includes a good pair of kickboxing gloves.
Kickboxing is a cardiovascular workout that is both intense and strenuous. It requires you to be quick with your movements. So why do you need to have kickboxing gloves, especially weighted ones? Wouldn’t that slow you down? It is true that you will need a lot of self-discipline and perseverance in order to survive for 30 minutes in kickboxing. You will tire your arms and your legs with the punches and kicks that you need to do as a part of your kickboxing program. This regimen can shred off up to 450 calories from your body in just a matter of 30 minutes to an hour.
Kickboxing Gloves
Another good thing about kickboxing is it helps you release your tensions and stress. Kicking and punching a target is a good way to relieve the stress. A good pair of kickboxing gloves can improve your workout. It can maximize the stamina for your arms and it will also make your punches better. Kickboxing gloves are essential in this sport. It can be compared to the importance of a karate suit to a karateka. It’s a part of the basic gear of successful kickboxing practitioners.
Kickboxing gloves act as the protection for your knuckles and fingers. With every punch you make, the padded glove lowers down the level of pain that you may feel. It prevents your hand from getting injured or broken. A nice pair of kickboxing gloves is the one that’s made of leather. The material is durable and doesn’t tear off easily. The wrist strap allows you to adjust the gloves to a comfortable fit. This strap also serves as a guarantee that the gloves will stay in place especially during sparring. The padded foam cushions the intensity of every blow.
You can start with lower weights so that it will not be difficult for you to get used to the moves. Once you master the moves then you can move on to heavier weights. You need to do this because you are challenging your stamina and endurance. This will help in your development in both areas. Not all types of kickboxing gloves fully cover the hands. Some types expose the fingers, this allows your hands to breathe and not sweat easily. Kickboxing instructors and experts recommend gloves that are made of neoprene. But it really depends on your preference, there are a lot of styles and colors that you can choose from. Just make sure that you fit the gloves first before you buy them.
Kickboxing gloves are not needed in all styles and systems of martial arts. For one, practitioners in kung fu training do not need to wear gloves. Their movements are slow and graceful and they do not use power as much as kickboxing or karate practitioners. However, kung fu practitioners need to wear kung fu shoes to protect their feet. They usually wear cotton-soled kung fu shoes. So it really depends on the system that you are interested in. Each martial art system has a different equipment or gear.

It seems like maybe one could use these gloves for other types of workouts too. Similar to joggers who carry weights. I could see, for example, doing yoga with these gloves on to burn a few more calories.

Several of my friends love kickboxing. Me? I'm an old school runner. I can't seem to make my life work around class schedules.
