Dog Barking Control | Top 3 Bark Control Devices
68We all hate nuisance barking. If we are a dog owner, then we should expect to hear some barking, howling and whining. The key there is to identify what causes our dogs to bark; they may be lonely, bored, frightened or frustrated. It is very impossible to train our dogs to stop barking altogether. The first thing that we can do to obtain some peace and quiet is to alleviate these situations for our dog. A happy and well-exercised dog is more likely to behave than those who are not. Of course there are times that even after we’ve stretched out our resources, we still can’t put a stop to our dog’s nuisance barking. This is the best time for us to make use of the dog barking control devices.
dog barking out of control
One of the most popular barking control devices in the market these days is the ultrasonic bark control. Dog owners like us, find it very convenient as we can use it with multiple dogs. So not only are we getting rid of our dog’s incessant barking, but we can also quiet down our neighbor’s dogs. There is nothing more annoying than hearing our neighbor’s dog bark and howl all night. But there is also nothing more embarrassing than having our dogs’ barking be the reason for our neighbors’ complaints.
ultrasonic devices
Ultrasonic bark control devices make use of ultrasonic waves that will interrupt a dog’s barking pattern in a humane way. This type of bark stop is especially designed to train our dogs as we can choose when to activate and deactivate it. When our dog starts barking incessantly, we can easily flip on the device and after a few seconds our dog will stop barking. We can also utter a command as we switch it on so that our dog will be able to associate that command with the behavior. This is a perfect training aid for us since we do only have to use it in situations where our dog shouldn’t bark. If we use it properly, then it will not affect our dogs when they are guarding the house from strangers.
small shocks for small dogs
If we own a small pooch then we can use a small dog bark collar. This is another effective device to stop incessant barking. The static discharge anti bark collars are collars that release a mild shock whenever it detects sound vibrations from our dog’s unnecessary barking. The static electricity will sting our dog momentarily, which is very effective in training our dog to curb its behavior. The collars are usually made from light materials so that they will not cause too much discomfort to our pets. A pair of batteries leads to metal probes imbedded on the collar. The shock intensity can also be adjusted to from one to ten. This is actually the most controversial type of bark collar that is sold today.
citronella flavours
The citronella bark collar is considered to be the most humane way of controlling nuisance barking. When the microphone detects loud barking from our dog, a battery-operated sprayer will emit a burst of citronella towards the dog snout. The scent of citronella smells very unpleasant for our dogs. However, this is very safe as the spray won’t reach the eyes nor burn our dog’s skin. The good thing about this collar is that our dogs will soon make the connection between their loud barking and the foul-smelling spray. Dog barking control devices were created to help us train our dogs not to make a bad habit out of barking. It puts us in command of their behavior in the most humane way. These devices also help us avoid doing the unnecessary surgery on our dogs. If we want to curb our dog’s bad behavior, this is surely the way to go.

I think some dogs just like to bark!
Oftentimes when people have trouble with the dogs, it is the owners that need the training, not the dogs. How you treat your dog affects them more than you know, so if your dog barks uncontrollably, guess whose fault that is?
I had no idea there were so many device options to control barking. I just bought two Shelty puppies, and I think I need to purchase some of the humane devices you mention.
I've used the shock collars before, but didn't like them, but I think I am going to give the citronella a try for sure, nice article!

A citronella-spraying dog collar? What will they think of next! I like that it does not shock the dog.
